There are moments in an artist’s journey when the need arises to pause and speak up, no matter how much that inner sense of modesty whispers in your ear that you should remain silent.
And here I am, with imposter syndrome settled beside me, scrutinising every adjective, every noun, every adverb… I glance sideways at it as it judges my words, and it responds with an uncompromising look of disapproval. I hesitate, cross things out, change things, rewrite the text. And suddenly, the predicate reveals the subject, and everything falls into place.
Then I stop looking at it and politely invite it to leave.
This time, I get the last word.
And so I begin.
My participation in Spanish Art in New York 2026 features Cultural Silence, a work recognised in one of the sections of the Córdoba Photography Biennial.
The work is part of a project that brings together Spanish artists and takes their creations to one of the world’s most recognisable urban settings. In this context, the artworks are presented in audiovisual format, with one-minute videos projected onto the giant screens of Times Square.
The artistic selection was overseen by Enriqueta Hueso, director of the Orient & Occident Gallery, while the technical preparation and delivery of the audiovisual material were handled by Santana Art Gallery.
For me, this participation represents an opportunity to extend the reach of my work and bring it into an international context, without losing sight of what gives meaning to my artistic practice: the need to create, communicate and convey through images.
